As part of the Localization Services team, you will collaborate and work closely to translate and localize our customers’ products ranging from desktop and mobile apps, ecommerce websites, video and e-learning content, etc. for a global market.

Job duties:

  • Analyze document, software, video, and website source files for quotation
  • Assist Project Managers in developing project schedule and budget
  • Perform functional internationalization assessment
  • Educate customers and team members about Localization and Internationalization
  • Review source content for internationalization, branding, and quality issues
  • Analyze and prepare source files for translation
  • Configure translation tools/workflows (CAT and MT), create translation projects in CAT tools
  • Verify translated files for branding, linguistic and technical errors and correct them
  • Conduct post-processing of translated files, including build integration
  • Perform desktop publishing of translated files (Adobe CC, Microsoft Office, HTML, etc.)
  • Scrub and fix layout, localization, and internationalization bugs
  • Maintain glossaries and TMs and ensure they are up to date
  • Document project engineering process
  • Support Project Managers and Account Managers
  • Propose process improvements to increase efficiency and improve quality
  • Distribute work to other Localization Engineers and DTP specialists
  • Prepare presentations for internal team, customers, and vendors
  • Automate various processes as needed using macros and different scripting languages
  • Additional tasks as required based on the evolution of the role and company needs

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Localization or equivalent job experience
  • Experience with some or all of these Adobe tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro, XD
  • Experience with Microsoft Office file formats
  • Experience in video and e-learning localization (timing, animation, voiceover, subtitles), using tools from Adobe and Articulate
  • Advanced knowledge of XML, HTML and XLIFF formats
  • Strong knowledge of CAT & terminology tools; Translation Management Systems (e.g. SDL TMS)
  • Knowledge of character encodings (Unicode) and fonts
  • Experience with version control and defect tracking software
  • Demonstrable understanding of Localization, Internationalization, and Globalization
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong team player
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and seek help when needed
  • Ability to work at least 3 hours with Pacific Standard Time zone for the first 3 months or until able to work independently

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of machine translation
  • Scripting languages (Perl, Python, VB, JavaScript etc.)
  • Knowledge of more than one human language (e.g. English, Japanese, etc.)
  • Programming/development experience and ability to write/read code (C#, C++, etc.)
  • Content Management System (CMS) experience
  • Ability to work across multiple platforms (Windows, Apple, Android, iOS, Linux, etc.)
